A tree cross-section: every growth ring marks a year of the community

We strive for the Ukrainian community in Voss to be a visible, united, and active part of local society — rooted in our own heritage and open to the Norwegian world around us.

Projects

Culture is what keeps our roots strong and united while we build futures abroad. We bring the Ukrainian community together in Norway to create, celebrate, and share our identity. We connect through singing, dance, books, cultural events, and shared activities that offer a welcoming space for self-expression and cultural pride.

  • Cultural heritage
  • Civic participation
  • Inclusion

Education gives our community the tools to make informed decisions and build a confident future. Whether it's learning how the economy actually affects your everyday life or helping an older neighbor feel confident online, we believe knowledge should be shared, not gatekept. We host events on digital literacy for older generations, bring people together around meaningful books, and are now laying the groundwork for a Sunday school, so the next generation grows up just as informed and connected.

  • Digital skills
  • Adult learning
  • Inclusion

No one has to navigate a new country alone. So we create spaces where connection comes naturally. At the heart of it is our women's club — a space for support, friendship, and shared experience. Besides, we practise Norwegian together, discuss books, take part in local events and organise our own, and do sports together — all of which helps build confidence and connection within our community.

How it works

You pay for the month, not for each Sunday. Five classes instead of four? The fifth is on us. Missed one? The price stays the same — we don’t refund missed classes.

Working and can’t come every week? Choose «One-off»: pay only for the classes you come to, with no subscription or commitment.

Library

Ukrainian books at Voss Bibliotek

There were hardly any Ukrainian books on the shelves in Voss, so we decided to change that. These titles are at Voss Bibliotek and can be borrowed free of charge, on the library’s usual terms — all you need is a lånekort. A few books for children and teenagers are on the way.

Campaigns we support

The sky over Ukraine is still not safe enough. Ukrainian air defence is Europe’s front line, and we have joined two international campaigns.

Stronger air defence for Ukraine
#SkyShieldNow

Stronger air defence for Ukraine

Sign, share, talk about it with neighbours and friends. Every voice counts, and together we can push for change.

Frozen assets for rebuilding
#MakeRussiaPay

Frozen assets for rebuilding

Frozen Russian funds should go to rebuilding and to compensation for those who were hit, rather than lying untouched.

Where our collections go

A Norwegian volunteer organisation that delivers vehicles and supplies to Ukraine. The money raised at our events goes there — every krone counts.
